Qalam Collegiate Academy's Middle and High school education is a blend of rigorous academic content and robust experiential learning. At the core of all, each QCA member is committed to helping students develop into lifelong learners dedicated to the pursuit of high academic honors and social and emotional intelligence.
In order to fulfill this commitment, QCA adheres to the guidelines set by the TEA (Texas Education Agency). QCA participates in the yearly STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) assessments. Consequently, our curriculum is based on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) to outline what students are to learn in each course or grade. Our unique K-12 program offers a thoughtfully designed curriculum aligned with the TEKS and college-readiness standards that provides consistency in educational philosophy, approach, and values across the two campuses – QCA for Boys & QCA for Girls.
TEKS Aligned Curriculum Overview
STEMscopes Math and Science
- STEMscopes offers a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum designed to enhance student understanding and engagement in math and science. It integrates inquiry-based learning with real-world applications, ensuring students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills aligned with TEKS standards.
McGraw-Hill Math and Science
- McGraw-Hill provides robust math and science programs that support TEKS alignment through structured lessons, interactive content, and formative assessments. Their curriculum focuses on building foundational knowledge while promoting analytical thinking and scientific inquiry.
Savvas ELA and Social Studies
- Savvas delivers a dynamic and interactive curriculum for English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies, emphasizing literacy, critical analysis, and historical understanding. The curriculum incorporates diverse texts and multimedia resources, aligned with TEKS, to foster a deeper comprehension and appreciation of language and social sciences.
SPARK PE
- SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) is a research-based Physical Education (PE) curriculum designed to be aligned with TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). It focuses on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles among students through engaging and inclusive PE programs.
STAAR and EOC Testing at QCA
At QCA, students in certain grades are required to take the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) and End-of-Course (EOC) exams to ensure they meet state educational standards.
