College Level Courses

Our rigorous curriculum is designed to not only meet the state standards but also to equip the students with the readiness to pursue college-level courses as early as their freshman year.

College Level
Courses

QCA offers a robust college preparedness program through dual credit courses, where students begin taking college courses as early as in their freshmen year.

This program is not optional; it is a requirement that every student at QCA graduates with not only a distinguished high school diploma but also an Associate Degree of Science from Dallas Colleges. Students may also pursue an Associate of Liberal Arts, but this will not qualify them for the distinguished high school diploma.

  • Early College Courses: Starting in 9th grade, students enroll in college-level courses that count towards both high school and college credit.
  • Distinguished Diploma Requirement: To earn a distinguished high school diploma, students must complete the Associate Degree of Science.
  • Alternative Path: Students who choose to pursue an Associate of Liberal Arts will receive a standard high school diploma upon graduation.

By integrating TEKS-aligned courses, college readiness preparation, and a dual credit program, QCA ensures that our students are well-equipped to achieve their academic goals and succeed in higher education. Our holistic approach to education fosters intellectual growth, personal development, and a strong foundation for future success.

College Readiness Programs

In addition to our TEKS-aligned courses, we place a strong emphasis on preparing our students for college readiness. We provide dedicated preparation for various standardized tests that are critical for college admissions and scholarship opportunities. Additionally, we also offer various programs and resources to support and guage college readiness. These include:

TSI with Dallas College

  • Administered in partnership with Dallas College, the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) assesses college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics. This test ensures that students are prepared for college-level coursework and helps identify areas where additional support may be needed. QCA students are required to successfully clear the TSI test in order to remain enrolled with QCA.

PSAT/NMSQT

  •  Helps students gauge their readiness for the SAT and provides practice in critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills. It also offers the opportunity to qualify for National Merit Scholarships.
  • PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)

MAP

  • Adaptive assessments that measure student growth and proficiency in reading, language usage, and mathematics. These assessments help identify strengths and areas for improvement, guiding personalized instruction.
  • MAP (Measures of Academic Progress)

PACT (PreACT)

  • A preparatory test for the ACT that assesses students’ academic readiness for college in English, math, reading, and science. It provides valuable practice and predictive insights into ACT performance.
